From 1960 to 2010, the palaeo-ethnobotanist Prof. Dr Ulrich Willerding collected botanical material from archaeological excavations himself or received it for processing. The sites range from the ancient Egyptian Nile island of Elephantine to Lower Saxony's Linear Pottery settlements, Metal Age burial sites in Austria and the medieval cesspools of Göttingen.
